"Don't be nice to students until Easter. If you are too nice to your students they won't listen to you"
So, anyway this year I have a study support grant again (had one in 2014) which reduces my teaching load and I am also only teaching senior classes. I am little sad that I don't get to teach juniors but am looking forward to the different dynamics of teaching senior students. Biotechnology and Computing are my focus this year and I am hoping to be able to develop a classroom room environment that invites my students to engage in my teaching and their learning as we work together to shape their knowledge and understandings.
One thing I have been thinking over in preparation for this year is some key words that underpin my philosophy about teaching and my teaching practice. At the moment I have come up with my 6 C's that relate to my ideas about my teaching practice and myself (see below) which I plan to focus on as the year progresses. I also hope to string together a few words that describes each.....but for now I must ready myself for my first day at school!
